The Birth of Prophet & Poet
When Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake tied the knot, a renowned winemaker Jesse Katz was invited to create a custom wine for the newlywed couple. Blue Ocean Floor, the creation, was inspired by a song Timberlake had written for Biel. A sibling collaboration followed between Katz and Justin Biel, who is married to Rose Biel, a shamanically trained energy healer. Prophet & Poet is an extension of these unique collaborations, bringing together two influential wine professionals: Chris Jackson, the Jackson Family’s president, and Ariel Jackson, along with winemaker Jesse Katz. This exclusive label, aimed at discerning collectors and connoisseurs, is a testament to their shared vision of elevating Sonoma County’s prestige in the world of collectible wines.

The branding and packaging for Prophet & Poet showcase a rich sensory experience, blending the mystical and the majestic. * Fantastic, mystical imagery adorns the labels. * Tarot-like cards are featured on the back of each label.
The Art of Vineyard Selection
The Broken Road vineyard holds a special allure, with a slope steeped in coastal fog, at 550m (1,800ft). This fog-kissed terrain allows for unique soil characteristics that Katz attributes to a “clone of unidentified Chardonnay.”
Chris Jackson: ‘The vineyard is planted to an unidentified clone of Chardonnay. We’ve had it tested, but they couldn’t find a match at (UC) Davis.’
Additionally, Upper Barn produces a Chardonnay with distinctive rocky soils, reminiscent of Mosel and Duoro. ‘There’s blue schist, which we know from Mosel, and the Duoro, and I think Jesse did a great job of capturing that minerality… ‘
