The Maryland Comptroller’s Cup
The Maryland Comptroller’s Cup is an annual wine competition that recognizes the best wines produced in the state of Maryland. The competition is open to all Maryland wineries, and the winners are chosen based on a blind tasting panel. The Maryland Comptroller’s Cup has been running for over 20 years, and it has become a prestigious award in the Maryland wine industry.
The Winning Wine
The Port of Leonardtown Winery’s Bubbly Blonde won the top prize in the Maryland Comptroller’s Cup earlier this year.
Jonas has been instrumental in transforming the vineyard into a thriving business. Under his leadership, the winery has expanded its operations to include a tasting room, a restaurant, and a wine club.
A Brief History of Nissley Vineyards
Nissley Vineyards has a rich history that spans over four decades. The winery was founded in 1978 by Jonas’s grandfather, who had a vision to create a family-owned vineyard. Since its inception, the vineyard has undergone significant transformations, with Jonas’s grandfather’s son taking over the reins in the 1990s.
Expansion and Growth
Under Jonas’s leadership, the vineyard has experienced significant expansion and growth.
The rain came in and it was like a whole different world. The plants were all wet and soggy, and it was hard to get a good shot. But I was determined to get some good photos, so I kept going. I remember one time, I was trying to get a shot of a tree, and the rain was coming down so hard that I had to hold my camera up to the window to get a glimpse of it. I was laughing at how ridiculous it was, but I knew I had to keep going.
