Lubben Winery ORIGINAL STORY: It began as a suggestion. An experiment in winemaking. It turned into a passion that will see Lubben Vineyards in Anamosa officially open their new location this week. If you aren’t familiar with their story, the Corridor Business Journal reports that it started in 2014 with the Lubben’s son encouraged them to make some wine from a kit. This led to the couple taking winemaking and vineyard management classes at Kirkwood Community College. It then would turn into Lubben Vineyards. With help from the Iowa Wine Growers Association, the Lubbens have grown 3.5 acres of vines, creating a new countryside vineyard according to the CBJ.
Their new facility at 13504 Highway 151 in Anamosa is ready to open. It will celebrate with a ribbon cutting today, and then open to the public on Friday, September 13th. The CBJ reports that the Lubbens Vineyard tasting room will offer an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. It can hold around 100 people and includes a wrap-around deck for some great panoramic views. Live music will be featured on Sundays. In the future, the CBJ reports that wine education classes, winemaking workshops and more could also take place at the new facility. If you can’t make it out to the new Lubben Vineyard facility, you can order their wine online HERE.
