History of Train

Train’s journey began in 1993 when Pat Monahan, the lead vocalist and guitarist, started writing songs in his apartment in San Francisco. The band’s early sound was influenced by the folk and rock genres, with Monahan’s soulful voice and acoustic guitar work being the core of their music. In 1996, the band released their debut album, “Train,” which gained moderate success but laid the groundwork for their future endeavors.

Early Years and Lineup Changes

  • The band’s original lineup included Pat Monahan, Jimmy Stafford, Charlie Colin, and Scott Underwood. In 1998, the band released their second album, “Drops of Jupiter,” which featured the hit single “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)”.

The album was released on May 3, 2024, and was a huge success, reaching the top 10 in the UK Albums Chart. The album was also released on vinyl and CD, and a portion of the proceeds went to support the Save Me San Francisco Wine Company’s charitable efforts.
