The Story Behind the Wine
Maxine Holland’s journey to becoming a winemaker began with a passion for wine and a desire to create something unique. She had always been fascinated by the world of wine, and her love for it only grew stronger as she traveled the world and tasted different varieties.
At the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, Holland attended a seminar on environmental issues and met people who inspired her to pursue a career in environmental activism. This experience had a profound impact on her life, leading her to switch careers and focus on environmental issues. She began working with the Carson Valley Conservation District and started a blog to raise awareness about environmental issues affecting the mind. Holland’s passion for environmental issues grew, and she began to work with other organizations, including the Sierra Club and the Environmental Defense Fund. She eventually became the director of the Carson Valley Conservation District’s environmental education program. Her work in the field expanded to include advocacy, policy development, and community engagement.
She emphasizes that her business is not just about selling wine, but about creating a sense of community and belonging.
The Importance of Education
Holland believes that education is key to building a successful wine business. She emphasizes the importance of educating her customers about wine, its history, and its production process. This not only helps to build trust and loyalty with her customers but also helps to create a sense of community and belonging.
“I want people to feel like they’re in a warm, cozy place where they can be themselves, without judgment.”
